The List
You know the one. It has items on it that you have been meaning to do for weeks. Months. Sometimes years.
This weekend I did SEVEN of them. Seven.
Now I need a cocktail.
Today we bought a big above ground POOL!
SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!
I am, quite possibly, more excited than my daughter.
G’night tumblrs
It was good spending a little time with you tonight. It’s been too long. Now I’m going to go see about getting more than 6 hrs sleep in a row.
Ha! Remember the penniless rock’n’roll lifestyle I used to lead? Yeah, that was awesome.
OH GOD
I’ve become terminally boring, haven’t I?! Wait, don’t answer that. I’ll recover. Just give me time to adjust.

I better start doing something better. I know! I’ll write a song! Uhhhh. Give me the first 8 lines and the chorus, okay?
Wait, what? You’ve been getting 11% of my heart for ages. What could possibly be better?!
Heh, I’m not falling for that songwriting trick. Besides, like they say in Nashville - write a word, get a third.
Today totally kicked my ass.
After spending 4 days on one annual task that had to be done by today I moved on to the next phase of training this afternoon. Every new thing I learn becomes “the most complicated system I’ve learned to date”. And it almost feels like all that I learned in the last task gets sucked out into some vortex of new connections being made in my brain to understand all the new things I need learn.
My brain is swimming in Landing Fee rates and Fuel Flowage Fees and PFC’s and Fixed Base Operators versus airlines and ground transportation and hotel leases. All I can say is it’s a good thing I’m only responsible for the two SMALL airports we manage. And now I know why my teammate who handles all of PDX makes $30K more than me/year.
But tomorrow half the office has taken a vacation day for the holiday weekend and I have a chance not only to learn at a slower pace so that I can actually absorb it all but also to leave early. (so that I “only” work 40 hrs this week) Bonus!
Also, I love being challenged - I just feel a little like I’m drinking from a fire-hose. And next month I need to start the process all over again and just pray that I’ve retained at least half of it - and took good enough notes for the rest.
Finally
I can’t remember a time when I was this tired. But it’s a good kind of tired. My brain is spent. But a good kind of spent. My body is sore from working out every day at lunch. But what an amazing kind of sore. And the endorphines keep the happy. So it’s a win/win.
I was trained at work just in time to be thrown in to an annual process that is super complicated and utilizes a financial software that is the most incredible maze I’ve ever navigated on a computer. I just spent the last 4 days working on this project non-stop. And when I was done I was treated to a beer and a nosh by our department head, along with 12 other people who had been working hard on it as well.
Finally. A good job. With good people. Who give a shit. And reward a job well done. Finally.
Oh, AND MY NEW CAR WILL BE HERE IN 15 DAYS. I’m on a rainbow, baby. But so SO tired…
Booya!
Walked 11:06 min/mile avg. at lunch today. Best pace yet!
Suck on that, Monday.
